When I began my writing career I needed a peaceful place to stay focused and productive. My cabin in the woods near the tiny town of Coe Hill provided the perfect place to do just that. Hundreds of hours were spent there with the sounds of the local wildlife and the wind whispering through the trees being the only outside distractions. It is truly my happy place where I can be very productive and led to me naming my company Coe Hill Writing Services Inc.

Scott Heard: My Work History
I have been a Red Seal Certified Heavy Equipment Technician for over 30 years. After obtaining an Ontario College Diploma in Heavy Equipment Techniques I started an apprenticeship with the Ontario Caterpillar Dealer and eventually moved into a Field Service role. Once I was Red Seal licensed, I worked for a few different employers as a Heavy Equipment Technician in a variety of different industries such as infrastructure development, aggregate production and open pit limestone quarry production.
During these years as a Heavy Equipment Technician I was also able to get Red Seal certified as an Automotive and Truck and Coach Technician. Additionally I sat on the Ontario Ministry of Skills, Training and Development Industry Committee board as a Trade member to help the Ministry develop policies related to the Heavy Equipment Technician trade.
I have participated in reviewing and updating the Red Seal exam questions and was part of the National Occupational Analysis review committee for the Heavy Equipment Technician trade. This included reviewing the scope of the Trade and updating the Analysis for it.
During an eight year period which began with teaching part time in an Ontario College program for Heavy Equipment operators I became an Ontario College Professor and taught a wide variety of subjects.
I currently work for Kubota Canada as a Technical Service Specialist. My past work experience as both a Technician and Professor are a perfect fit for providing support to the Canada wide Kubota Dealer network.
I wrote my first textbook for Pearson Publishing (Heavy Duty Equipment Technology: A Systems Approach) and it was published in 2015.
I co-authored, with two teaching colleagues at Centenial College, a second textbook for CDX publishing (Fundamentals of Mobile Heavy Equipment) and it was published in 2017.
I have reviewed numerous Motive Power Trades related publications and created many lab tasks and exam questions for use in Motive Power Trades College programs.
